Things I did in Bali that I have never done before in my life.

Things I did in Bali that I have never done before in my life.

Some things that I could do in the daily life that I had never done before, but did do in my first month travelling alone in bali.

Walk Everywhere

No matter the distance, no matter the heat, no matter the rain. I took on the challenge to walk everywhere during my first month in Bali. When it rained, I just used that as a reason to jump in somewhere randomly, be surprised by great food, and do some work. When it was hot, I lost one liter of water per minute because of sweat, but it would not kill the fun I had. I have seen so many things by simply walking that I would never have seen otherwise. I do not regret one minute of it.

In the first three weeks of my Bali travels, all I did was walk everywhere. And that is amazing fun. Here in Bali, pedestrian roads are not really a thing. So in almost all cases I was walking in the middle of the road. I can highly recommend doing so if you are traveling in Bali. Because this way you get in touch with the locals, have fun conversations, and you can see a lot happening on the road and find hidden gems everywhere. Things you would not see if you were driving on a bike.

Driving a Scooter for the First Time in My Life

I had never driven a scooter before I came to Bali. And actually, I did not plan to do so based on the whole traffic situation and the fact that I really was enjoying walking everywhere. But my host got me in touch with a cousin of his who was renting bikes, and it felt like a fun way to explore more of Bali.

Wayan, my host, gave me one driving lesson. It was great fun. Driving a scooter is not that hard. The only thing I had to adapt to was driving on the other side of the road, but even this came quite naturally. So to take it for a test, I took a ride from Ubud to Denpasar center. Which probably is not to be recommended, but I did it anyway. If you want to learn to drive a bike in heavy traffic, that is your go-to.

I had to go to Denpasar to pick up my DJI Neo 2 and action camera. Which all made sense now I had a bike. A cool action camera to film my adventures on the bike and a drone with which I could shoot amazingly fun content on the road and have some off time flying around the beautiful nature of Bali.

Go to a Random Wedding

Yeah, believe it or not. I had never gone to a random wedding before. Weird, right? After one week of being in Bali, my host invited me to go to a wedding of his family. Some cousin was getting married, and it was a great opportunity to see the traditions of Bali. I met a lot of great people here, asked a thousand questions about the culture, and learned a lot about ceremonies, family hierarchy, status, and other things that are really important to the Balinese culture and people.

Go on a Touristic Tour to See Touristic Things

I have never been a tourist. In most cases, going on vacation meant sleeping in the sun for a week and reading a lot of books. Never have I really had an adventure-type vacation. So now, with my long-term travel plans, it makes sense to soak up some culture, see some dances, and really get a grasp of what this beautiful place has to show.

I went to visit waterfalls, temples, monkeys, ate some local food, saw a ritual-type dance, and enjoyed a lot of fun together with my local friends that came along.

Build 5 Websites in a Day

Important to add along the way. Although it has nothing to do with travels. In the meantime, I have been hard at work learning, testing, experimenting with implementing my web design system into AI at Vonzie Studio. I got to the point where I can build five on-brand, fully polished websites in one day. Which is a crazy milestone if you think of it. This would mean that it is already possible to pump out 150 websites in one month if you go at it hard. Although in reality with customer feedback this will be a bit less. If there is a well-automated system in place, this could actually be a reality.

Fly a Drone

Never did I ever. And sheesh, why did I not? I used to be a gamer big time, and this thing comes close. I bought a DJI Neo 2, a mini drone with some cool selfie settings, follow modes, and so on, which was the main reason I bought it in the first place. But you can also fly it manually and get some amazingly beautiful shots.
